Punjab has achieved national recognition in the field of energy development and renewable initiatives, with the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) receiving a prestigious national award from President of India Droupadi Murmu.

The award was presented during a national-level ceremony recognising states and institutions that have made significant contributions to clean energy adoption, energy efficiency, and sustainable power infrastructure.

PEDA was honoured for its consistent efforts in promoting renewable energy projects, including solar power generation, energy conservation programmes, and implementation of central and state government energy policies across Punjab.

Officials stated that Punjab’s performance reflects a structured approach toward reducing dependence on conventional energy sources while encouraging environmentally responsible alternatives.

The recognition is seen as a boost for Punjab’s long-term energy roadmap, particularly at a time when India is accelerating its transition towards green and sustainable power solutions.
